Bob!
Sign up today.
Bugs and coins generate overnight. You'll have a bug to squish tomorrow then.

ITG - Without seeing your map/circle, I'm struggling to understand the question. If you are the only player in your vicinity, you should only see Red bugs and they should only spawn inside your circle at a rate of one new bug/day. If they are still there at midnight (UK time), they will cost you a penalty of four points/day each. To get rid of them, you need to pick them up and take them outside your circle as discussed yesterday (+4 points for each bug moved/squished). If the circle is clear of bugs at midnight then you gain a bonus of 200 points.

If you see bugs of any colour other than Red, that means there is another registered player nearby. Those other coloured bugs can safely be ignored with regard to any possible penalty though you can score points yourself by running/riding over them as others have mentioned.

One other possible thought has just occurred. When we talk about bugs we mean the specific markers that look like small beetles/insects - it's not a generic term for all the markers that may appear scattered across the map both inside and around your circle. We are all 'speaking the same language' here aren't we? Have another look at the game guide for more info if you need it.

ITG, if you’re the only player in Iceland, you shouldn’t have any bugs outside your circle.

Not wishing to speak for ITG but she's said that she's joining the game either today or tomorrow so she won't be seeing anything from the game related to her or her area yet. I assume ITG is basing her questions on the maps other people use to illustrate things, so all the bugs displayed will be either green or yellow and there won't be any circles for reference.

The maps that are visible as a non-player are going to be less clear from our descriptions that we would think seeing what we see from the inside.

Indeed - but in defence of those who tried to help - she did ask her latest question before clarifying that she'd not signed up yet ;)

I shall admit that I based my response on an assumption (now obviously incorrect) that she'd signed up after the discussion yesterday and was now wondering about the map she was actually looking at.

Thanks for your patient explanations! Yes, I have read the guide but didn't understand it all. I dare say if I just sign up and get on with it, it will all become clear.

ITG: I think that's definitely the case. The way the maps show things are different when you're playing. Also, as Bob! said, if you join today you'll have stuff generating overnight to go and find tomorrow.

No, you haven't just joined a cult. ;-)
