I think I've finally worked out how the bugs work.
Green: effect other users so I don't need to worry about them
Yellow: other users' bugs that I have run past and infected. They still don't effect me although I think I earn points by infecting them
Red: bugs that count against my score. I can squish them by running past them and then out of my home circle
Red&Yellow: bugs that other users have infected. These also count against me and have bigger scores. I can squish them by running past them and then out of my home circle
Sadly still on -3000  but at least I can hone my strategy now

That was the conclusion I just reached too! I managed to squish a bug during parkrun today after reporting him 3 times for being unreachable (my new home circle has a lot of fields on one side). Nice that the route goes just outside my circle as it seems you no longer have to run the bug a whole mile to squish it.

I am on a positive score today for the first in a long time. I ran too, but not in my home circle. I may have to do some squishing tomorrow, although I have another 10 days or so of big negative scores to drop off.

I finally dropped out of the top 100 today. It's going to seem weird seeing a very red home circle and mega minus scores for a few months.

How long do traffic lights last?
Winded has nabbed some on the parkrun course and he cost me 64 points this morning - I wouldn't have been so polite to him if I'd realised!

it seems impossible to parkrun without getting hit by traffic lights. I avoided Woodley as RRR-CAZ costs me about 200 points every time I go and went to Crane. Got hit there as well for 70 odd points
