but it is mainly based on bug mgmt as chasing the bugs doesn't give me running time to plant many flowers

Do bugs move or do they stay put until picked up and carried out ? there's one on my map that although it is on a normal road so could get to it I would have to get across the motorway first or drive to somewhere past it and run back, and do I have to do anything with the other coloured bugs

I'm in the top 20, over 10000 points and a non-cyclist (well not in the last 6 weeks+). Bugs are important as I've limited options to plant flowers on anything other than a long run. A lot of my flowers end up being overwatered.

Bugs don't move unless reported as unreachable, but do die after 30 days. You only need deal with red bugs, but can you can get points by running over yellow ones.

And green ones - green ones belong to other people, but haven't been infected yet. Infect them and they turn yellow.

For me, with limited distance capacity at the moment, it is mostly about bugs. My greatest scoring opportunity realistically is getting the bug-free bonus as often as possible. And since I only run three times a week.... although I have been mad enough to go on bug-clearing walks before now.

I been close to 10000 as a non-cyclist. Sometimes do a lunchtime run around work which seems to give easier access to flowers.

Thank you for the bug information Marvin and Rev that gives me a bit more hope that I can finally clock up some points even if only by infecting a few bugs

What's the deal with watering flowers. I did a longish run last night that I did the previous Tuesday, so I was expecting to water some flowers but when I logged my run I was surprised (and delighted) to find my watered flowers were now worth 9 each rather than just 2 as I was expecting! I had assumed it was one point per run through them

I'm also a non-cyclist in the current top 20 (best score just over 9100) - almost half my points are bug free bonus points and about 30% are from planting, watering and harvesting flowers. It obviously helps having few neighbouring active players and thus the chance both to sweep up jewels in 'their' areas and to head out into unowned territory.

Basically, from my perspective, it seems that it's quite possible to gather a decent score if you play the game proactively - you won't score much if you simply run where you want without planning first.

I'd also observe that something has been going on over the past couple of weeks - I may be top 20 now but I've mostly been somewhere mid-fifties. Perhaps the fair weather cyclists have been driven indoors ;)

I've been in the top 20 and don't cycle much but I don't have many local players leaving me flowers. My home circle has very few items in and I reckon I'll never get over 10,000 with out getting on my bike...

mummysaurus :-) that particular bug sounds inaccessible to me, & if reported might return somewhere safer/closer & also stop good things arriving in that place
