WS, there’s one further to the right that definitely looks like a greyhound or some sort of sight hound: but I still see the one on the right as more like a stylised seal or something, when I’m not seeing a 🦖. Not saying you’re wrong! Could be canine, but bigger? Very square jaws. Swittle, the house is on the right of Stonegate as you walk up towards Minster. It’ll be on google maps. Hard to get a photo with it all on, as the other side of Stonegate means you can’t get far enough back, or I couldn’t, anyway. |

Thanks, beebop. The address was v helpful. Nikolaus Pevsner [1972 The Buildings Of England series York & ER, 1972, p. 152] writes - 'No. 17 [Stonegate} is of the C15.It has three gables with carved bargeboards and five oriels to the first floor wuth three smaller ones above.'
