Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

That's a lot of beers. At least it's semi-outside. Much as I'd like to go, if my local beer festival was on, I wouldn't go anywhere near it.

I had amate visit that. He claims it is not as good as the old days when it was at the Victoria swimming baths, used to be 1000 beers, now 600...I used to make a rather damaging weekend at the Nottingham beer fest when I was a student.

I don't think it ever reached 1,000 when it was at the Baths OS, although I stand to be corrected. They made a big thing of hitting that number a couple of years after its move to the castle which seemed to coincide with a move towards quantity and not quality.

Whilst I enjoyed the castle, the numbers attending were getting far too large. I didn't go this year (been every other year since '88, bar 1). I would have hoped that with it being held at Trent Bridge that it may have discouraged some of the city centre 'revellers' that it was attracting at the castle/arena.

Just finished and bottled a new brew. A hoppy golden ale with a hint of elderflower. I made the elderflower cordial as well and a first taste of it as I siphoned it into bottles was pretty good. Citrus, hops and a hint of spring flowers. I know it's coming into winter but I like the lightness of this and it goes well with my fish and chips.

That sounds good Groundhog. Our former next door neighbour had his 'brewery' in his shed and would often give us a couple of bottles over the fence. Some were excellent - others were more of an 'acquired taste'.

I started a Rosemary & Bay Ale a few weeks back, first taste today and it is very tasty. Need to bottle it now.
