Off to Glasgow this week, for first outdoor permanent astroturf (artificial grass) circuit, in another in the Inter Club Series. It may be wet! ![]() |

Has anyone over summer done model planes, boats, cars, drones or any other outdoor radio control stuff? ![]() |

Yeah that's a nice dirt track. We're not quite as quick as that on the grass, but on our new astro some of the good racers will be. ![]() |

Hi I'm after some advice please from you modellers. I'm emptying my father's loft and I found a couple of old R/C items. I would like to get rid of them but don't know if anyone would be interested. I'm not asking for payment, but do you think anyone would want something like this. Is there an interest in old kit, even to strip the parts, or have things moved on / changed so much that they would just be junk and not worth having? They did work before putting in the loft, but I don't really want to buy several batteries just to see if they work now..! I think there is a r/c shop a few miles away and a racing circuit not too far away as well, so if you think it's worth a go then I'll get in touch with them, but thought it was worth asking before I get in touch. Thanks. This is a (mid 1980s) R/C jeep and control. I had fun with it. |

Hi Nelly, my only reader, here's one specially for you. One of my fave of the vids the chap has done at our club - go to the last minute or so where he does Trucks jumping through the air, to the Dukes of Hazzard music! This weekend is a really great event (hope weather holds) - it's called Doors Open Day. It was originally designed for things like churches and civic buildings that aren't normally open to the public to allow folk in to look around. But it's become a way of publicising things that folk might walk on by, so we got in it last year and again this year. Even though we have no Doors and are Open every Day! ![]() facebook.com 💥 2021 DOORS OPEN DAYS PROGRAMME NOW LIVE 💥 Doors Open Days is Scotland's largest free festival of places, history and culture. It offers free access to sites across Scotland & includes both online & in-person activities. From breweries & farms, to kirks & printing presses, this year's Doors Open Days programme has something for everyone! Head over to our website to see what places you can visit for free this September. Hundreds of events have been listed and more are added each day: doorsopendays.org.uk Scottish Civic Trust This means we start early at 10.00, have extra races, spare cars for new folk to try, and generally try and showcase what we do. If weather holds dry, should be lots of fun. Last couple of weekends the racing has been great fun. A fun barbeque, a kids and partners day for new racers, and that very wet day at Glasgow's new Astroturf track, for the Interclub race. Great fun, nice to meet new folk and try and new venue, but it was the wettest day of the summer, poor gits! ![]() |

Mushroom, hi, cross post, sorry, I was so long in typing the above. Yes, is the simple answer. It's like vinyl - there are collectors who love the old stuff. I'll ask you a few questions to try and help some more. ![]() |

Can you see what make it is? If it is Tamiya, they did a jeep called Wild Willy which was very popular. The 1980s version of that would be sought after. ebay.com I'm not saying it's worth $3000 but... |

Thanks HG - it's a bit battered with my rather carefree attitude to how I played with it - so I doubt it's worth much - but if gets to be reused or recycled then that's better than just throwing it away. I think it is a Tamiya. On closer inspection, there is the name Golden Eagle. It looks very much like this (though with a different drive colour scheme): tamiyaclub.com Were there different versions of 'Golden Eagle'? |
