Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Well, it's not that I'm averse to the use of elbows where necessary... I am the product of an organisation where it's socially acceptable to use fisticuffs in a game of ludo 🙂

That was 12 ALS's in a row. Hopefully, despite it being in the 50@50 race series next year, I can make it 13.

My first ALS was 2008, Swittle, and I've run them every year since.

From memory - 2 versions of the "alternative" route via the conduit and top'o'stairs and back to the stoop, and one v v v cold one (2008) where you came out the stream and your shoelaces had frozen before you were halfway back up the fields.

The air temperature was cold that day (as was the ground), but there was one year where it was v v cold on Penistone Hill purely because of the wind.

Mind you, it's always 2-3C colder up there than anywhere else!

Might well have been 2009, fozzy. As the pic shows, it was white all over, drifting to 4-5 in. in places. :-o

Sounds about right - my training log suggests that that was a "snow" year using the alternative route to the stoop via top'o'stairs because the main route was too icy

2008 was extremely cold, but with only a bit of snow and ice

2009 was deep snow, but warmer.
