Just noticed they've reversed the route of the Edale Skyline. Anyone any ideas why?

Is there a history of reversing the route or is it usually always clockwise?

It was reversed to ACW in 2018 for the English Championship race and remained the same in 2019. Until then it was always CW but over the years the actual route has changed numerous times e.g when I first did it circa 86 it started by going up Grinddlow Knoll and finished off there, it then changed to starting up and finishing down Ringing Roger. The descent off Win Hill was changed about 5(?) years ago and in the last few years all the nav was taken out of it when as a condition of keeping the race routes off the Kinder edge path were banned and you were forced to follow the new slabs from Lords Seat to Brown Knoll and not take any direct routes. As a result it's now a lot poorer race and has been described by some as now being "a trail race for people from Coventry"! :-O

No more sinking waist-deep into bogs while your head continues forward until you face plant then? :-( I'd been thinking I was due a trip back there soon, but perhaps I won't.

Fozzy - I'll happily defer to your greater materials science knowledge, but I'd assumed that the graphene inclusion would be acting add a rheology modifier - allowing more deformation on contact (and more grip), but preventing fissures opening up in the rubber as it recovers.

There's certainly multiple papers on rubber durability increasing with graphene inclusion, but whether or not the inclusion level Inov8 are using does anything is the bit we'll never know!

Flanker those opportunities do still exist, particularly round the Woolpacks which you can no longer cut round, but are very limited.
