We know how to use a GriGri for top rope…. We still need GriGri instructing for lead….
(Chuffed to get my 6b+ auto belay project today, too 😀 It’s getting there post Covid - able to leave a bit less rest between the warm up climbs 😀)

Is it the fancy new one (grigri plus), or just the older version? I was wondering if the plus was worth the difference, or if I should be radical and buy an Edelrid pinch.
We only have a tubular type at the moment, but are about to start climbing again after a few months enforced lay off, so it might be time for an upgrade.

The instructor who showed us said the Grigri was better than the plus, but that was just his opinion. We’ve got the regular one.

The grigri is good
The Plus has an anti-panic handle that stops you from pulling the handle all the way open in a panic. Most folk are not worried about that if they get trained properly. The + also has an adjustable tension, and my opinion is that this can cause more confusion as is results in varying catch weights.
the regular grigri meets post folks needs in my opinion. But are you guys have done, I think the Grigri is best used with training as newbies cause many Grigri accidents
I havent tried a Pinch yet so not sure about that one yet.
Not sure where you are up to jackdaw, but by far the easiest assisted device to use is the Black Diamond Pilot.

Grigri for lead is a WHOLE other thing and I see all sorts of rubbish about it.
If you are down Manchester way, let me know and I can show you it
