D1 SPR gets relegated despite being only player to play all his matches D2 Chrisull goes up; Jules goes down (forfeited all his games due to other commitments). D3 monsenb1 goes up; Goofee goes down. D4 Surelynot goes up; fetcheveryone goes down; Totriornottotri drops out due to other commitments. D5 Joophy goes up; iaincr goes down (level on points with Banjo, equal head-to-head record, but the higher ranked player goes down = iaincr). D6 chunkywizard goes up; Meglet goes down (same reasons as iaincr) D7 JK goes up; HappyG is on least points BUT he's +13 in material in his unfinished game with Angus. If the pools panel were to call that as a win for HappyG, then he draws level on points with both Angus and MrD. Looking at the head to head results, MrD is 2-0 against Angus, and with this pseudo-win, HappyG would also be 2-0 up against Angus; and therefore Angus would get relegated. But the question is, do I dare break the news to Angus? And more seriously, what's the threshold where we might 'call' a match? And should we, even? D8 Turkhish goes up; BarefootEm goes down; and Dio drops out due to other commitments. D9 DaddyShark goes up (lower ranking than Bamber); DeeGee goes down. D10 Scorge goes up (lower ranking than JogWalker); Pothunter goes down. D11 Things are tense! At the top, Oranj is leading with 6 points, with one unstarted game against roberton. Snail has two unfinished games - and both are still fairly tight (one with all pieces still on the board; and the other where he's +2 on material). The tie-break rules say (pretty sure I said this out loud, some time back) that if two players are equal on points, the player with most completed games takes precedence (never once thinking that people would fail to complete all their games), so in theory Snail would have to get at least 1.5 from those last two games, which suggests that Oranj should get the nod, barring some quick play in the next 11 hours! At the bottom, EdJ has zero points, but Sampson and roberton are both on one point. Sampson and roberton have only declared results for four of their potential 8 games (Ed has declared five results); so there's room for some last minute swings. But as things stand, it looks like Ed will be an unfortunate relegee. D12 Tazsedai goes up; Furryh goes down. D13 Cognoscensme goes up; and no-one is relegated. As things stand, ChrisDipster joins D13 for April. D14 New division, featuring azx, p^2, kstuart and spanners99. D15 New division, featuring mole-thing, Jayfire, snoot and Chrisity. -- Please leave your comments on the D7 and D11 situations Also, for this coming month, I'd like to reinflate D3, 4 and 8 - to give them their full quota of 5 players. So there might be multiple promotions or no relegations for some, at the end of April. Does anyone have an issue with that?
