SPR Dec 2020 10:46am, 19 Dec 2020 32,576 posts	0 SPR Re chess.com rankings, it looks like you can pick your starting ranking if this is to be believed: chess.com I do remember a bit somewhere at registration that said beginner, intermediate, and advanced (?). That's probably what's triggering the start ranking. I chose beginner so it's been a 'long' road to 1200, lol (which is the intermediate ranking). It does add to the point that jda made about skewed rankings by just playing ourselves though if most of us are starting at 800 and also there's a chance some of the randoms are also new and stronger than their starting ranking.
