Swifts in Turkey, nests well established. Finding it disconcerting that I am on 7th floor of a hotel where they are nesting below me.

Skylarks in the sand dunes at West Wittering. I didn’t see them but they were making lots of noise.

Looks like our blackbird has disappeared from it's nest. Maybe eaten by the sparrowhawk 😭 saw the male briefly earlier but female has been off the nest for hours.

In typical whitethroat country today but didn't hear any whitethroats. I thought they were usually back around this time? Anyone heard or seen one yet?

I think a bit early. The south and south west observatory blogs are just reporting their first of the spring

Had a busy day but got out for a mile walk this evening to hear curlews. Anyone who’s done the Yorkshireman would know where we were by Leeshaw reservoir

Whitethroat reported here (Derbyshire) a couple of days ago by a very reliable source. So keep tour ears peeled J2R.

The Merlin app is great fun. We saw grey wagtail on the river this morning and the app picked it up. What was nice is coal tit, which dare I say I kind of forget about are really common here. We had a buzzard overhead but sadly it was silent

Popped in at Middleton Lakes on the wayback from London. A productive few hours with 50+ species, including first garganey for a while, first whitethroat of the year, bittern booming all afternoon, all the usual suspects, swallows, house martens and ... swift ... in April!
