Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

We arrived on Skye yesterday and the first thing we saw flying around were Swallows.

Winter thrush are back here, only a small flock of a dozen or so in the hedgerows

Annoyingly someone has butchered the best hedgerow, probably to allow room for their sodding horses on the *foot*path

I know it’s not birdwatching. But not sure where else it would go as it’s to do with nature.

But Sycamore Gap tree was deliberately felled through the night 😭

I just can't get my head around the sycamore gap thing. It's only about 20 miles from me, so even more baffling and distressing.

That seems very early for winter thrush, Rosehip I've only seen mention of one Fieldfare on the Spurn Obs. site. My September Fieldfare always end up being small flocks of Mistle Thrush.

A local blogger said last night he is expecting redwing very soon, but they haven't been reported in Shetland yet. Regular pinkies sightings for two week hereabouts (not by me)

Even more baffling is apparently a 16 year old has been arrested. None of this makes sense to me.

I think they hang out in family groups at this time of year, which always used to confuse me.

I just hope to God the 16 year old, if it is indeed he or she who did it, didn't do it as some kind of stunt filmed for YouTube to impress his/her mates. Sorry, old man thoughts there...
