Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

No, too big for a wryneck, I think.

I love bullfinches. See them occasionally around my neck of the woods but not enough. Saw one in the snow one winter's day, and the colours were sublime.

Used to see them regularly at my old house, but none here (so far), agree that the colours of the male are magnificent.

My girlfriend’s not historically a bird person though I’ve introduced them to her more and she loves bullfinches (and goldfinches) particularly the big, bright males.

We had a pair feeding on dock seeds in the garden the other day. I love the females subtle colouring as much as the bold males. They have a lovely call too.

Bit of good news - (unless it’s old news that has reared it’s head on the news this morning)

First white tailed eagle chick in 240 years born in south of England. Unsurprisingly they’re being very gauge about the nest site.
