Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

There was a goldcrest in a tree in mum's garden. It didn't appear at all concerned by us standing under the tree watching it - at one point I thought it was going to land on my shoulder.

We must have watched it for 10 minutes when another suddenly appeared from next door's garden and they both flew off.
Beautiful tiny little thing :)

There was a long tailed tit collecting food around my climbing roses today. :)

A pair of Goshawk and a Hen Harrier in the Upper Derwent Valley today. Plus Sparrowhawk, Buzzards and Kestrel. A proper raptor today. But no Wheatear, Ring Ouzel or Dipper.

ff, very envious. I've never had a proper goshawk sighting.

J2R I'd only ever had a fleeting sighting in Spain before and though this sighting wasn't over long there was even an obliging Sparrowhawk in the air with them for comparison.

I think I saw one once in woodland on Bornholm, an island off the south coast of Sweden, but didn't get a good enough view to be certain. They occur in the Thetford Forest, so I should make a special effort to try to see one.
