One very brave Skylark on top of my local hill singing and trying to show spring is on the way whilst being blown all over the place this morning.
(Said hill is the highest point and the first place over a 1000ft if you come directly north from the south coast. So with the current wind direction its had a while to pick up pace when it gets here!)

Funnily enough I heard a skylark singing this morning too Lots of song thrushes getting vocal too.
The sizeable local jackdaw population is very restless in the high winds, it's impressive to watch them wheeling around above the valley but not great for my concentration whilst trying to work...

Two jackdaws in the garden having a go at the fat balls and squeezing onto the bird table today.
I'm kidding myself that the same two who used to come and sit on the roof near the dormer that surrounded my writing desk have found me in my new place. Nice to see you again Huginn and Muninn (and yes, I know they should be ravens).

Skylarks are simply the best..but nearest songsters to me are thirty five minutes running away. Three Robins in the garden this morning, always is a "third bird" around this time of year. One will soon be chased off. No Dunnock behaviour with them😂

Still windy here today but not as vicious as yesterday and I stopped counting on my run after at least 8 separate singing Skylarks plus one I flushed from the edge of a field. 😀
