Greenfinches singing in a couple of locations this morning.
Very little else. And a recent shocking Big Garden Bird Watch! Birds avoided the garden!

I've heard greenfinches, too, and quite a few song thrushes on a run a day or two ago. Things are beginning to stir...

J2R, those blocbirds are great. Mind you, I struggled on several of the less obvious ones.

HowFar?
There are now two pied wagtails in the yard. The newcomer is slightly smaller and a bit more dark grey than black. The resident has spent large parts of the day running after the newcomer, who quickly scarpers.

Reiver, yes. They're no doubt more common in the Netherlands than here. I'm not beating myself up too much for not getting bluethroat!

HowFar, pied wagtail is one of 3 species I'm hoping to see in the garden some time soon, the other 2 being jackdaw and nuthatch. In all 3 cases, I've seen them very close by, within a few hundred metres, but not actually in the garden as such. (I may be misremembering about jackdaw, though, that may already be a 'tick', I'll have to check).

My Garden List is 45 which have come through 11 years of watching carefully. Doesn't include "flyovers" of Swift, Sand and House Martin, Swallow, Tree Pipit, Cormorant, Canada Goose, Mallard. Species yet to be seen are Pied Wagtail, Redpoll, Siskin and that would be probably the lot for this urban environment.
