Run along chesterfield canal to sandhill lake (edge of Worksop) and back home late morning/early afternoon canal had usual moorhens coots and mallards plus the pair of mute swans at Turner Wood. Nice views of grey wagtail on one of the overflow outlets. The lake had mute swans, tufted ducks, mallards, coots and moorhens plus 3 goosanders

Saw my first Dippers today on my run at Cuckmere Haven. Shame that I didn’t have my glasses or phone with me!

I love the differences in our sightings due to area. 'My' canal provides daily dippers and goosander at this time of year but I've seen only one moorhen in the last month and not a single coot!

The Coots are all here! The count last week was around the 1400 mark. And given their ability to have a ruck with their own shadow that makes for almost continual widespread skirmishes, it's like being outside a 70s football ground! How they ever find time to feed is beyond me?
