I had hundreds of starlings in my garden yesterday. A lot of them were juveniles being fed.

Bit of a sad thing last night: I was in my office (upstairs at home) and a great tit flew straight into the window. It landed on the window cill a little stunned, then flew off into a tree at other side of the garden. Minutes later the silly thing did it again, only this time didn't survive the experience. Quite dead :-( Strange that it did the same thing twice.

Sad, NE. Windows must be a hard thing for birds to understand. Have you got one of those cut-out bird silhouettes in your window? Since we put one in a window upstairs, I don't think we've had any incidents of birds flying into the window, where they used to occur quite often before that.

No, haven't got one of those. The vertical blinds we have in that window were pulled back (it's south-facing), maybe that's why it happened - usually the blinds are drawn.

The spotted flycatchers are nesting under the eaves. This makes me happy.

Anyone else been enjoying Springwatch? I thought it was only on for one week, so quite excited to get week 3 starting on Monday!
