Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

New! Smew! Woohoo! A new one for me, not seen a smew before. 3 on the scrape at Minsmere, including a very dapper male. Just a brief visit today as parkrunning nearby, but the wind was brutal, not a day for hanging around.

Meanwhile, collared doves have now joined the ever expanding list of bird species who have figured out how to use the sunflower seed feeder in our garden. It involves an awful lot of wing-flapping for balance, but they manage it somehow!

Ooooo smew heart

Haworth Hobble today - 32 miles of gritstone moorland. Lots of the classic species around - oyk, peewit, curlew (best noise in the world), grouse, skylark, mipit, goosander on the reservoirs. And then on the drive home, just before 6pm, short-eared owl heart made flanker do two 3-point turns so we could drive back and have another look. It landed and I swear it looked through the car window straight at me. Stunning :-)

I saw the eagle again yesterday, a bit closer, it seemed to be flying low, flushing out the smaller birds (alpine choughs) from their hideaways in the bushes. Wonder if it's a juvenile as on it's own and in a different area from where eagles are normally seen round here.
