Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Sparrowhawk yesterday flashing past as I drove out of Sainsbury's. They have much classier birds than Lidl 😂

:) Heinzster.

I saw something I couldn't ID whilst walking the dog at about 7 pm last evening.

Over frozen fields and windy but dry. Something owl-shaped, smaller than a barn owl and darker kept appearing just across the edge of my torch (chest torch) beam.

Calling sounded a bit like a kestrel, but it wasn't a kestrel.

Sounds like it could have been a Little Owl Rosehip.

I did wonder if it was - I don't think I've seen one before and certainly not around here, hopefully it was and I'll see it again :)

They are very territorial and diurnal ie not just nocturnal like tawnies and LEO. Keep em peeled whenever you are in the area. They’re great ‘perchers’ and love sitting on fence posts and hedge tops. There were several territories all around our old manor but I’ve not seen one here in a year :-(

Seems to be far more SEOs this winter than I've ever seen mentioned before.
