Three peregrines today above Carrick-a-rede rope bridge. It seemed to be a pair and an interloper. So pleased to see them!

Two wonderful sights yesterday, on a long run through the marshes. A large flock of swans approaching and flying overhead, their wings making that strange whistling noise, and splashing on to the river just ahead of me. And the best view I've had in ages of a barn owl, quartering a field, backwards and forwards very near me (sadly I didn't have my binoculars with me). Also a couple of roe deer bouncing through the fields.

Saw "my" barn owl for the first time this year last evening, I was getting worried about her as I'd not seen her. They're fabulous to watch

I used to see barn owls very often and have seen very few over the last 3-4 years, so this was a special delight.
On today's run, two different woodpeckers, a great spotted and a green.

Never spotted a green woodpecker yet. Not particularly common around me I don’t think. Heard one but couldn’t spot it.

Look out for them in the air. Characteristic bobbing flight. Size of a blackbird(ish)

Used to see (& hear) then almost daily in Cambridge. Great colour when they catch the sun. I suspect they'll become a rarity now were in Yorkshire 😂
