Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Re Kestrel Wriggling Snake and J2R--there was a decline of 32% during 1995-2010, part of an overall decline of 40% since 1970. Causes are unclear although the impact of second generationrodentacides, damping of the vole cycles and competition from other raptors has been proposed. ( Bird Atlas 2007-11, p316).

Big fan of the bullfinch. Most stunning was spotting a male perched on a tree in a field freshly covered with snow. The colours were just extraordinary.

I've moved to the centre of Bristol by a river, big trading estate and close to central station. There are parks and trees and ... owls.

Loud male tawny call at night on other side of river in trees (back of flat). The next morning, female tawny call from over the busy Bath Road in Arnos Vale Cemetery (local beauty spot) the next morning at 06:30 (front of flat).

Regular group of 8 Canada geese in the river + 2 dabbling mallards and moorhens.
