Dave A
Coming towards the end of a week up here and had my 1st venture into the tops with the dogscthis morning (apart from a quick trip up The Bell over Coniston a couple of days ago). Not out st the earliest ever (set off just after 08:30) but managed to avoid the masses. Up Walna Scar Road, then Buck Pike, Brown Pike, Dow Crag then the Old Man. Saw 2 people on Walna Scar coming the other way. 2 Fell runners coming off the back of the Old Man. Got to the summit, there was a family of 3 there for a couple of minutes before they left. Had the summit to myself š Walked down the main path into the Coppermines and it looked as if Iād managed to miss the masses š |

Been up the Old Man 4 times, never had a view. Funny how some mountains have it in for you.

Just had my first trip up Wetherlam when it's not rained at the top. Up by Lad Stones, and down via Black Sails, Erin Crag and Kennel Crag to add ticks to some of the more obscure lists! Nice little loop. Hardly saw a soul, and had all the summits to myself. Bliss. Chrisity - it took my into double figures of ascents to get the views from the top of Snowdon |

Any recommendations for campsites near Whinlatter parkrun? The only ones I know around there is Scottsgate - it's got rather pricey over the years - and the one up by the stone circle whose name escapes me.

ukcampsite.co.uk not stayed any closer than Burbs Farm myself, I look on here for sites, reviews on it have been pretty fair so far |
