I'll be in Keswick area from 2nd to 9th June with Mrs R4R, a mental border-collie (aren't they all?) and the in-laws. Will be doing a few fells, but having a couple of quiet days as well. Haven't yet broached the subject of taking my bike - will try to earn a few Brownie points in the next couple of weeks

I like sedate walks indeed 😃 Helveyn was ridiculous. Thought we were at the top and celebrated like Rocky only for missus GF to tell me 'er no..its over there!' *pointing*. Threw a hissed fit..throwing rocks and kicking sheep poo. Not appy.

I'm up in the Highlands at the moment and Glen Nevis was busier than Blackpool promenade. I wouldn't mind but the majority of the people don't get beyond their car doors 😕

sooo - If following Workington parkrun, I was to head for the hills, where from that direction would be park-able so "late" in the morning?
- though it is Saturday and hopefully half-termers will be heading home it would be later than I'd normally be looking to dump the car.

We were proper grocklewagoneers today. My parents were visiting and we went to Caldbeck for lunch. Remembering the tales I'd told of being tortured by being taken "out for a run in the car" on nice weekends when I was a child - cooped up in the back of the car for hours, not allowed to read or knit, no pauses to let me out to run around, no tearooms and rarely a picnic - eL Bee! had the genius idea of taking us a very long way home, round Skiddaw, through Portinscale and Grange, and over Honister Pass. Mum and Dad loved it

Rosehip, look towards the Western fells. Ennerdale Bridge is very accessible from Workington. That part of the Lake District is often relatively quiet because it's a trek from the M6. Wasdale's also relatively accessible and there's plenty of parking available there. Or if you fancy some nice seaside, St Bees is worth a visit.
