Rosehip
I was joking
But…we have a fishing lake locally, quite close to the river, that has a metal fence around it to keep the otters out - it doesn’t. They don’t know how they get in, but they do. And it’s not as if there are that many otters along the river, this is pretty much in Bedford.

Looks like the beavers have already taken a fancy to one of those signs.
Best (only decent) use of a fishing lake is as an otter's supermarket.

Has made me chuckle the each time I’ve read it Rose 😂.
Heading up in March for a short break as a bit of an early 50th birthday celebration. Seems an unusual time to visit but need to make use of the time that my son is on a school trip…..in Iceland!!

That sign looked like someone had taken a definite dislike to the idea!
It didn’t really demonstrate how they intend to fix the base of the fence as it was just turned under, assume it’ll be buried? Can beavers dig??

You cannot stop beavers easily... And why re-introduce and then limit their habitat to what we think is good for them? Let them choose

I don't know many beavers personally, but I'm pretty sure they're smart enough to just go around the ends of the fence...😉

Can't legally release them in England and Wales. Beavers in the River Otter, in Devon, are either escapees or illegal reintroducions. Legal in Scotland; just reintroduced to Loch Lomond.
Beavers can definitely dig.

I’ve Willy waved about this on SM already, but had a brilliant day today on Helvellyn with the Fell Top Assessors on a winter skills course. We found just enough snow/ice to do ice ace and crampon work and went an interesting route to Swirral Edge to get to the top.
-11 windchill on top.
Really good day out.
