Yes. Very well run to pace it to get the gap to Can back without going too hard.

Nice jump under pressure from Jaz Sawyers, delighted for her - and for Klosterhalfen, who has been around for ages. But then so has Eilish.

Great camaraderie between the women's long jump medalists - not as common as that between high jumpers and vaulters.

Klosterhalfen is only 25, she just started young.

Notice McColgan wasn't 100% committing to the marathon. I must say I was surprised she doubled at all three champs with that as the plan.

'Considering almost half the population menstruate every month, it seems odd to me that it's still such a taboo subject in 2022.' Bit of an exaggeration there, I think? Still, good to raise how periods can affect some people.

Excellently well written piece. Definitely a subject we should be able to be much more open about it. Even Dina last night "girl things" I think was the phrase; not a criticism of her, but we should be abe to be confident in saying on prime time TV "I got cramps because of my period cycle" (what is the best phrase that women would like to be used that avoids euphemism?). We don't read between the lines when they say they've torn a hamstring, or had a vomiting bug etc.

Agree with this, Dina herself seemed subconsciously embarrassed to mention it (the phrase was "girl's stuff"). She obviously knows it isn't based on what she said after, but the initial response was social conditioning IMO

Good phrase, social conditioning. Living in a household with my wife and three (sometimes four) boys, we've not really managed to get our boys to have an easy vernacular about periods etc; my wife doesn't mention it to them wrt to herself (just no need to, not an intent to keep it a secret though) so maybe in houses with more mixed populations it's a much more common conversation to have, but I suspect there's still a lot of social conditioning to not discuss these things over the kitchen table, when really they should be really easy, relaxed, common conversations.
