Thanks, rleyton and santa! Will fmail you my email address, santa, and then see what the email says. As long as my address slipped through and it's not that they didn't need me (and are getting annoyed by my frequent emails)...

I am only 3.8 miles rom the start, I measured it on the garmin !!! I will run some weeks (with a warm up there and cool down back - giving me 10.5 miles). Also intend to volunteer some weeks (with the run there and back thrown in).

I can always cycle it as well.....

Hi Bazoaxe - Drop the organisers an e-mail at EdinburghHelpers@parkrun.com - Even if you can only help every now and then, it's still very useful for them to know as the big day approaches that there are folk out there ready to chip in on occasion.

Edinburgh parkrun are holding a trial event on Saturday (3rd October). Same as a normal parkrun, but your results won't persist for very long (they'll be replaced when the first event happens), and it's all about helping the race director and volunteers get experience with running an event.

If you're interested in going along, drop a note to EdinburghOffice@parkrun.com - Be sure you're already a registered parkrunner, ie. have filled in the registration form at register.parkrun.com or taken part in any other UK parkrun.

Of course, if you'd like to help, drop them a note too! Particularly if you can also help on the 17th

Very windy for the first Edinburgh Parkrun trial this morning, it was (and still is) blowing a gale in Edinburgh today.

We had 6 or 7 runners just to test the course and let the marshalls (including our own spicedapple) get used to their roles. As there were so few runners I got a podium finish - I expect that's the first and last time that will ever happen :-)

It has all the makings of a brilliant event. It's a lovely fast flat out and back course, hard going into the wind today but enjoyable nonetheless. Very welcome tea and scone afterwards too.

There's another trial run at 9:30 next week, runners and volunteers required if you can make it, and it starts for real on the 17th :-)
