Afternoon all. Afraid all the Scottish parkrun event's are in urgent need of volunteer offers this Saturday. Probably school holidays related.

If you've been running at your local event for a while, but haven't got involved with volunteering, please think about stepping up and helping out occasionally. If everybody who ran regularly helped just 3 or 4 times a year, we'd be fine. As it is, we do often struggle to find volunteers, and it's an extra burden/stress for the core team who make your parkrun happen week after week.

So please, give it some thought. Don't worry about the tasks being complicated/stressful, they're all very straight forward, we provide full training, they're very rewarding, and it's always a lot of fun, and you don't need to come that much earlier than if you were turning up to run.

Get in touch with your parkrun team via the Volunteering tab on your event page:

Edinburgh: parkrun.org.uk
Glasgow: parkrun.org.uk
Strathclyde: parkrun.org.uk

Cheers,

Richard.

I would def encourage folk to volunteer if they can. If you have ever run it, you should volunteer at least once in a year! I can't this week I'm afraid (I'm sure everyone says that! But I have volunteered twice in Glasgow, once in Edinburgh and only actually run 3 times, once as a guide to Blind Ken, so feel I have helped out a bit!)

It's great fun, you'll be given exact instruction what to do, you only need to turn up a wee bit before (9 or 9.15) and you're done by 10.30 - with coffee, cakes, a nice chat and a lovely sense of wellbeing!

Go on, go on, go on! :-)G

I would also encourage people to volunteer, it's great to be involved :) I help out at Milton Keynes though as Edinburgh is just a bit too far away to get there on a regular basis ;-)

Happy G did his volunteering again last Saturday, glad to have his help. Don't be fooled, I may be in front but he is always leading.

Saturday was first time trial since VLM injury, followed by minor surgery, so was good to get out. Thought we were just taking it gently, till I found I'd only missed my PB by about 15 seconds. Must ask Happy G to volunteer again.

Sorry guys, but Edinburgh parkrun is CANCELLED this Saturday (24th July) - Something else going on on the course, and there was a miscommunication about dates (we'd been told August).

You're naturally welcome through to Glasgow or Strathclyde parkrun.
