I am giving it a miss this year having done 2006, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12....had places for 11 and 13 but missed due to injury and then a clash with the cup final. 2009, 10 and 12 were doubled up with F/VLM. This year planning VLM and probably will do the Edinburgh half as its a fast course offering PB potential.

early days but...Edinburgh has a great bus service, even on Sunday mornings, the closest train station at Wallyford is where the shuttle buses go from after the race, it's about a mile and a half walk from the finish, last bit up a hill, good to stretch the legs, but walk the other way into the usually-busy-but-deserted-on-race-day Musselburgh town centre and you'll get a normal bus for £1.50, you could even support the local traders (shops, pubs chip shops) whose trade is decimated on race day, and there's no hill to walk up either. Finish is about 30-45 minutes on the bus to edinburgh town centre, 10 minutes on the train, which don't run before 11ish on a Sunday. Start is right by the main station, Waverley, if you can get a train in at that time of the morning that is. Black taxis are expensive but the private hire cabs are cheap..

I got officially signed up today and got my training plan from my coach so all ready to go, just picked up a slight niggle last night which will hopefully be nothing.

I signed up a couple of months ago after not getting into London. I have still got to look at all the arrangements as I know the finish is in Musselburgh, will have wife and daughter supporting me so need to work out arrangements for them. Can't wait to do marathon in Edinburgh. I did a BUPA Great Scottish run there several years ago and it was great. As anyone who has been to Edinburgh knows it's a really beautiful city.I live near Edinburgh so will be travelling in on the day. Using local buses seems like a good tip, Edinburgh does seem to have a really good bus service.
I will probably be be using a training plan from the BUPA site. First marathon so a bit nervous!

York sounds good. I've been to York a few times and really liked it. Maybe this is one for the future.

Mave, it's Bank Holiday weekend if that helps with OH and work?
Any suggestions on how to find a transfer place for the full? My pals credit card got messed about and she lost her entry.
