I managed a 14 miler easy run today in 1:54. Had plenty to spare at the end which was good, since this was 4 miles more than I've managed before.

I'm doing the full marathon again this year, did it last year and really struggled with the heat and no sports drinks being available - I couldn't face gels so spent the last 8 miles cramping up something awful. If its the same high5 crap this year then I will be carrying money to buy lucozade or the like at the few places we pass shops on the route! I'm still in winter holding pattern with my running just now (read doing very little and being lazy) but have just terrified myself by realising that next week is the beginning proper of the 16 week training plan, best get off to Run and Become for some better shoes and get my backside out of the door for longer than 3-4 miles:)

Edinburgh marathon day draws ever closer. Hows everyone else running it getting on?

Good running CamBear.
Last week was the first time since March that I've done over 30 miles in a week - though there were lots of shorts runs, so it quickly adds up and it didn't feel like a 30m week. My long run of 10 miles was slow and felt comfortable and I did 3.5 miles yesterday as a recovery run.
I'm on holiday for a week from Wednesday and I'm a bit worried about how I'm going to fit the runs in. I'm taking my running gear with me but I'm not very good when it's warm and I'm not sure I'll manage 12 miles on my own next weekend if it is warm! I suppose anything is better than nothing - perhaps I'll do a morning and evening split session!

Good running.
I managed 17m yesterday and had 6 miles trail/hill running on Saturday - feels like I am on the right trackss now having taken time to build the miles back up.

17 progressive paced miles on Friday past in 2:07, pretty much on track for Lochaber marathon mid April ahead of my 'A' race for 2013 in Edinburgh.

Nice easy 18 for me yesterday in under 2.30 - keeping most of it aerobic.
Will need to find a couple of tune up races come end of march into april to see where i am in terms of racing pace!!
Nice running folks:)

19 miles progressively paced again in 2:20, training to date has went really well. Now looking at Meadows marathon on 3/3 as scheduled run that day is 23 miles and thought race environment might break up the long solo run, anyone with experience of Meadows runs? Got the Kirky 12.5km next weekend so a welcome break for the longer training runs for a couple of weeks.

Nice effort Cammy. Ive done the meadows half...its 7.5 laps of a route with some narrow stretches so the full will be 15 laps no doubt. Quite a bit of congestion to deal with...but as a training effort should be fine

Cheers Bazoaxe, the looped course is the main thing putting me off as never something I'd fancied but since I'd be treating is as a relaxed training run it could work out fine?
