Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

I'm just up to 10 as the 16 week schedule which starts on Feb 2nd only goes higher than that after the first few weeks. I'd usually be up to 16 by now but for once, I'm following a schedule to the letter!

Hi Guys

Hope you don't mind if I join you. This will be my first Edinburgh Marathon, though I've done London twice. I'm a slow runner - my marathon PB is 5.19 but I'm hoping for sub 5 if everything goes to plan.

My training plan started this week and coincided with the snow so it hasn't gone as planned. My training plan says 10 miles tomorrow but it has been snowing heavily for the last 2 hours so I'll have to wait and see!!

Ebb - the more the merrier:)

Got in a decent 15m midweek run yesterday through Tentsmuir Forrest (to avoid the icy pavements).
I'm only going for my usual 12week plan which i end up making up normally but thionking of trying the p&d 70-85m 12wk plan which would start at the beginning of March. Mainly working on base untill then with the Scottish national xc champs as my only race in that period.

Hopefully a good weekend of training for all..:)

Ebb - is it not possible just to run along the roadside when it's snowing - all the pavements here are covered and quite icy but the roads are generally quiet - saying that, I do tend to head out early on a Sunday morning!

I quite fancy trying a wee bit more than 10 tomorrow after reading comments re: distance. See how I feel. :)

I love running in the forest when its snowy - and the good thinkg about forest bed is its kinder than tarmac. Sadly, in working tomorrow so only chance of a long run will be pre or post work in the dark so will need to be round town. Getting so bored of usual routes now. Need something different!! Roll on the light nights!!

I had to do my long run on Thursday this week because I've been working this weekend (training for Lochaber first!). Good thing about heading out through the week was that the normally busy-at-the-weekend canal towpath was almost empty :)

Oops at last post

Welcome aboard ebb. Icy pavements made it impossible for me to run as well. Now, this morning, it's torrential rain and blowing a gale. Lets hope it improves later.

Thanks for the welcome.

I only managed 5.5 miles instead of the planned 10 miles as it snowed really heavily overnight on Friday and the roads and pavements were treacherous yesterday morning. We ran on the trail but it involved running through 3" of virgin snow which really took it out of the legs. My calves were in pieces after less than a mile! After a mile we decided that none of us could do 10m in those conditions (including those a training for Hadrians Wall Ultra) so we settled on a shorter route. I think that the miles I did are probably the equivalent of around 10m in normal conditions!

I'm doing an easy 3m today to get my legs going again and swim training later.

Hopefully I'll be back on track with my schedule next week!!

Happy running to those doing their long runs today.
