Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Not too concerned it may be a scorcher (two consecutive scorching days in May on marathon day in Edinburgh, what are the chances). more worried about the wind blowing in off the Forth as enjoyed in the Crammond Parkruns.

So what distance is everyone's LSRs up to now, I'm about 11 or 12.

If its not scorching, it will be blowing a gale, that much we know.

Last year was pretty well organised - does that mean we have some major hitch in store this year though - nothing can beat the fox chewed through the cables, or someone stole the water, or we are moving to the main road cos the racecourse isnt big enough for us, no spectators at the finish, ran out of tshirts/gave the marathon ones to the half runners, dodgy shaped medals if you turned them round. Migt be mixed up with the half but I recall one year getting the goodies handed out as you exited the race, but there was no bag to store them in !

Cambear, I am at 10 miles now, moving to 11.5 this weekend, but I am behind where I would have liked to have been due to injury re-habilitation (and also because I have VLM 5 weeks before Edinburgh).

For a first timer being at 11/12 right now is just about right, build that up gradually so that you get ideally 5 but at least 2 or 3 of 20 miles under your belt.

I ran 12 this morning which is my longest run for a few months. I'll build up from there.

Claire, is Edinburgh your main target or are you doing another as well ? I seem to recall you didnt like the London/Edinburgh double when you did it a few years back (and PBd in London)

I am giving this another chance, having put up with the rather shambolic times form 2008-2010

I am hoping for a naughty medal like last year;)

Theres a question, who has run Edinburgh the most ?

I missed 2003-2005 when it was run on much harder courses as I wasnt a marathon runner then. I was an ever present from 2006-2010, missed 2011 due to injury and then got the naughty medal last year - meaning I have 6 appearances that equates to 50% of my maratons to date.
