I saw a Speckled Wood butterfly this morning. Well I think that's what it was. Brown and fluttery, not a moth, not a bat.

I have a newt after all for today.
I drove a make of car that I have never driven before (although effectively it is the same car as the one I already have just a different badge) and have put a deposit down for it - so in a week or so I will have a new (to-me-but-second-hand) car :-)

Congratulations Fields!

I too had wild garlic, yesterday... First of the year.

And today! I have NEWT power in my NEWT building. And totally NEWT: I dug a trench for the power from the NEWT building to my old greenhouse and drying shed.
The greenhouse has been heated from a cable reel coming out of my front door, for errrr, neigh on 7 years??? So soon it will have its own double socket, as will the drying shed. Having light and power in those two means I can actually work and use these buildings in winter and in the evening.
Outside lights on a sensor all around too.
It is very dark here: no street lights!
I am so excited, I probably cannot sleep tonight!

Not just one but two nature walks this afternoon.

Spotted a Swan on her Newt nest, the peregrine falcon watching the sunset, a beautiful magnolia in full flower and a carpet of anenomes, so lucky to be surrounded by nature.

Lovely Mrs J!

As I was digging the trench for the cable, then filled it again with the cable in it, the birds were very vocal. Such a Spring like day! The first this year...

Not just my newt, but the whole band- we've been practising a new tune at Samba for the past few weeks, tonight we did it at full speed for the first time. I've only been on my current instrument since Jan and this was far faster than anything else we've done to date. My arms feel like they're going to fall off :-) Quite exhilarating.

About This Thread

Maintained by Sharkie
Most of you know the score. Much in the bizarre way Easter has come to mean Chocolate, Lent is mainly thought of as an opportunity to Give Up Chocolate. At least until Easter. You know what I mean, 'What are you giving up for Lent?' * I say NO to this. Away with the hair shirts and the deprivation. Let's embrace change and the NEW. Spring is a time of renewal - and restoration.

Soooooo..... you don't have to take up indoor sky diving like my partner's 90 year old mot...
