Mark Wood seems to have become the anto-Vernon-Philander. One takes wickets without ever looking really 'dangerous', while tho other is the exact opposite. We need a proper batsman instead of Dawson, Woakes to be fit and replace Wood and another proper batsman instead of Ballance. How much better would: Cook Jennings Stoneman Root Bairstow Denly Stokes Ali Woakes Broad Anderson look vs. current selection (especially as there is extra bowling from Jennings and Root!)

Ditch Dawson foe Rashid or an extra batsman depending on putch. One thing I noticed wad just how bad Stokes run up is. At least 5 yards too long. He is decellerating markedly as he reaches the crease. He would be a far better bowler if he arrived at the wicket better. Anderson being an example.
