Anyone else feel their optimism and excitement of the 'new era' England draining away already, 20 minutes before the first test of the season, as memories of this rogue's gallery of inept incompetence intrudes....

And, frankly, after my fine innings of 3 not out* ** in the 'Auditors vs Finance' cricket game of 1991 I'm a little annoyed I didn't get a call up.

*I'm claiming not out, but actually deliberately hit my own wicket because a) I was scoring so slowly and b) I needed a piss.

** I came out to bat with a can of beer, which I placed behind the wicket and had a couple of tugs on between deliveries.
