A valedictory home series to take him past Warne? Old Trafford - 1st Test vs Sri Lanka in August is the sentimental choice, but he's not Broad.

6 of you correctly predicted 4-1 - well done.

Let me know what polls you want over there for the summer >. (Do you even want them?).

The Tests are 2 x 3 matches against Windies and Sri Lanka respectively. I have tickets for days two and 3 at Edgbaston vs Windies. Can't wait!

There is a T20 World Cup in June I think, so that can have a poll before and during the tournament

So, I was thinking a Div 1 and Div 2 County Championship poll? I can take it down for the duration of the T20 and reinstate after.

The Fetch cricket wire suggested a poll on Bazball. It's over there >

The morning of a bruising away loss might not be the best time to ask this...!

Bazball. Has been a shot in the arm. But the difference between being positive and being reckless is currently a fine one and they seem to be getting on the wrong side of it. Especially against the better sides. And is everyone supposed to go out and slog it? People should play to their strengths. Root isn’t a slogger. Bairstow is. Play your natural game.

And cut the braggadocio trash talk. Doesn’t do anyone any favours.

But it sure as shit is entertaining.

Bazball is just making use of what you have. The current crop of batsman are one-dayers, bar Root, so they plaly that way. May as well.

I voted the third option, but it’s not really peak joe root it needs, but an understanding on when to modify approach

Problem is that they will beat the mediocte teams and be in with a fighting chance against good teams in England, but they will lose as many games as they win against mediocre teams away, but will get roundly thumped by good teams away.

And as much as I'd like to say all test cricket is important, with the likes of south Africa, Sri lanka and west indies going backwards, it's really only india and australia that matter now.

Until we have more teams playing more than 2/3 test series against each other, the overall standard of test cricket outside the big 3 isnt going to improve rapidly.

Anyway Jimmy 700 wickets in tests (and btw 988 international wickets overall) with power to add next summer at least if he stays fit.

1,000 international wickets is quite the thing (as is 700 in Tests, obvs).
