Well fight fans here we go.....
Ballnace dropped, Hales in. Good move too late. Finn dropped, Jordan in. End of Finn? Really hoping he'd get back to something like his best and coule rehab himself overwinter ready for next summer, but he's broken by the look of this (probably will be now even if he wasn't before.
So we're chasing 276 and have roared to 75-1 off 16. Still think we'll either fuck it up, or make it very very difficult.....squeaky bum time....

run out. The saviour Hales nicks a pub team seamer behind. Same old same old...
And yes, feel really sorry for Finn. Surely against a team that predominantly face spin at home this was the time to keep him in and build up his confidence. Surely Broad should have been dropped before him anyway. Who said clique?

and according to the commentary Bell is going well. I wonder if the Aussies or Kiwis would consider a strike rate of 50ish% from their opener as 'going well'?

It's ok if you got a guy accumulating runs at one end ticking the scoreboard over but you need a couple of bangers at the other end. Hales was doomed to fail he hasn't had a proper game for a couple of months naturally going to be rusty..

As was Ballance doomed to fail as he hadn;t a proper game...
Half hoping for a defeat, we really do not deserve to be in the qtr's and at least it would get the misery out of the way earlier. It would paint our ineptitude in the proper light as well, they'll paper over the cracks if we somehow stumble into the qtrs... whereas out in the groups might see the end of Moores as well ?:-)?:-)?:-)

I'm almost thinking the same. At least then I'd be able to watch the quality teams and enjoy some of the tournament. At the moment it's like some arcane form of torture.
Anyone else feel like they're watching a test innings?
I also thought that the wise approach on a day-night is always to bat first when you win the toss as it's far easier to bat under the sun than the floodlights?

England cannot, CANNOT set a total. We have to bat second to have any chance of winning, regardess of any other factors.
If Root goes cheaply my money would be on Bangladesh.

The problem is we cannot chase a total either. We don't know how to punish a mediocre bowler.
