There has been a franchise Canadian T20 already. Some of the usual players turned up there too. I don’t think it survived for long.
And Canada have previously competed at the ODI World Cup.

That is true but if you compare them with other big Commonwealth (or former) nations, Canada have never matured into a major force globally.
rf_fozzy, I am inclined to agree that it is poor cricket on a plastic strip at venues which make English club cricket grounds seem world class. Unfortunately, the ECL is a recognised event with developing umpires.

Ditto rugby. I wonder how much of that is because there is some influence from American sports and baseball and gridiron are respectively more prevalent.

I think Essex have chased [at least] the last three targets - all going down to the final over.
If it wasn't for the weather, the next match should be a high scoring one. Not sure how many overs it will be as it should have started nearly 20 minutes ago.
