All declarations tend to look bad if you end up losing but it seemed pretty reasonable to me. 20 mins of Anderson nurdling a couple of leg byes wouldn't have done them much good, unless they were playing for a draw from day one (hint: they weren't). There was a good chance of a wicket that evening, perhaps even two (as with England last night) which would have put them in a very strong position indeed.

Let's be honest, if they wanted a draw, they could have switched up how they played today. They've set their stall out to risk losing for wins and today is the perfect example of that.

Moeen has a better chance of winning the match with the bat than the ball

Is one of the reasons Moeen is playing surely? Home ground heroics on their way 🙏

Very hard to believe that Labbers didn't declare that a drop straight away.
Taylor on commentary: "he used a bit of the ground to control the ball".

You usually have a chance bowling in the fourth innings at Edgbaston, although this wicket is a bit unpredictable.
Early declaration, Bairstow's errors, etc. Whatever the outcome of this match, there's certainly enough talking points. We're in for some Ashes series!
