It's one of his last big pay days, others will follow for sure and it means the ECB has got to think about money a lot more, and probably pay a lot more to ensure they keep people.

njosmith May 2023 2:58am, 26 May 2023 909 posts	0 njosmith I heard that one of the reasons that ECB have cooled on the Hundred is that they have been unable to sell on the concept. Presumably they had trademarked the concept in some way, which explains why it needed to be different enough from regular T20 in order to get a trademark/IP protection. No idea how they thought they were going to be able to profit from selling on rights to a not quite cricket format when a recognised cricket format is available for free.

It also says the format is a barrier to investment from IPL franchise owners who have invested in SA's new T20 league that has a similar format to the Hundred. theguardian.com The success around the women's game is discussed. Sad that it's based on a format that most of us thought was always going to be England only and was therefore likely to have a limited shelf life.
