He's past his best and doesn't have an England Central Contract, which is where the cash is, it's like going to play for New York Cosmos in football ca 1970s, fair enough. It's one of his last big pay days, others will follow for sure and it means the ECB has got to think about money a lot more, and probably pay a lot more to ensure they keep people.

There is talk that many players who would have played in The Hundred will go over the pond instead. Let's hope it becomes more like MLS and not NASL.

Money aside, for the sake of 20 less deliveries, it is pretty pointless IMO.

Are the ECB exploring replacing the Hundred with Major League Rounders?

I heard that one of the reasons that ECB have cooled on the Hundred is that they have been unable to sell on the concept. Presumably they had trademarked the concept in some way, which explains why it needed to be different enough from regular T20 in order to get a trademark/IP protection. No idea how they thought they were going to be able to profit from selling on rights to a not quite cricket format when a recognised cricket format is available for free.

The sort of idea that only a committee could come up with.

This story says they trademarked it in Australia, India and NZ. It also says the format is a barrier to investment from IPL franchise owners who have invested in SA's new T20 league that has a similar format to the Hundred.

The success around the women's game is discussed. Sad that it's based on a format that most of us thought was always going to be England only and was therefore likely to have a limited shelf life.

They'll just televise women's T20, I should think, when the hundred gets canned.

T15 already existed by the time the Hundred launched as well, so those that really wanted a shorter game were never going to pay the ECB for the privilege.
