It's remarkable how close the lengths of the two teams were. Suggests the main contrast was the batters' ability to cope with the bowling (and dropping catches / taking wickets off no-balls)

And the pace at which those balls were bowled
And the quality of the spinners (line and turn being relevant as well as turn).

At which point I'm back to us being crap at all three main components of the game (as well as captaincy and selection)

Bowl at 90mph and you can land it a bit shorter - all about the time for the batsman to react from the point it bounces and (ideally) deviates.

Dibbly dobbly 75-80mph bowlers have to go a bit fuller to have the same chance of finding the edge.

Ergo we bowled the same length as Australia, but it was too short for our all County trundler attack.
