57.5 Days of Xmas
Print media still exists?
Excellent idea re the toss. It takes out some of the imbalance caused by predictable conditions and pitch preparation, so makes it a fairer contest on the day.
Completely different from a handicap system designed to even up the contest overall. That might involve forcing Australia to pick 3 guys off a Sydney street to occupy the top batting spots...

Sounds as if it might be worth getting out of its wrapping then. I subscribed to The Cricketter a few years back, but rarely read it much now - just haven't got round to working out how to cancel my subscription! On the other hand, as I edge towards retirement, maybe I will read it more...

I used to buy Sticky Wicket back in the day. More of a fanzine. Remember getting a beautiful branded cable knit long sleeved sweater*, real wool. I shrank it in the wash.

I am a bit old school as regards reading, I find screens very tiring, and actually really enjoy picking something up and flicking through it to find something I want to read.

Kindles and the like are the work of the devil. You can't use your laptop to light a bonfire and if you use it to soak up moisture after cleaning your daughter's rugby boots, the bloody thing would probably blow up.
Always buy ink on paper, keep a printer in a job.

I subscribe to The Cricketer too, haven't started the current issue yet, I like to take my time over it.
Also remember Sticky Wicket, I don't think it lasted for too many issues, good fun though, I seem to recall a regular Ted Dexter spoof column. I'm sure I have copies in the loft somewhere along with the first ever WCM.

Sticky Wicket sounds alarmingly like a sporting Gentleman's Relish*...
*As in the film, not the anchovy paste. Although...

Sounds like either Sid James or Richard Briers should be in it depending when cast
