Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Four wickets in four balls in a world cup, not bad for a 22yr old. Bet South Africa are kicking themselves for not keeping hold of him.

Daft question - is there a reason that South Africa produces such a large number of pro-level cricketers? It's not even a monopoly sport there, given the SA love of egg-chasing...

57.5 Degrees of Pain
- there seemed to be one or two SAs in the Scotland team yesterday as well
Must have got that idea from their southern neighbours. Are their any Scottish Barbadians? We promise not to break them.

Might say some wrong things here.

It’s the kolpak players. With the quota systems in place in South Africa you often get white South African cricketers looking for a home elsewhere. I don’t think they all have Scottish grandparents but get in on residency.

England also has a rich heritage of nicking South Africans.

With the Dutch and South Africa there are probably more family ties.

Tendo is an oddity - perhaps nico remembers the story, but I think he was urged by Graham Gooch to become Dutch rather than English because of some kolpak loophole. I think he didn't count as an overseas player but couldn't get 'eaten' by the England team either?

I follow various people from PNG on Facebook, and there's been quite a lot of sharing of a video of some of the players and support staff in tears during their national anthem yesterday. Nice to see that representing their country at this level means so much.

Eng 188.

Might be a fun chase.

What happened to the 5th Eng/India test, the one where we would have been thrashed but might get a walkover as the Indians scuttled back to the IPL.

‘Fun’ - maybe for India. An attack of Dernbach, Dernbach, Dernbach and a bloke called Jade with a lot of tattoos is looking a bit iffy……

ECB seems to have forgotten to tell the BBC about the England game - doesn't even seem to be listed in the fixtures.
