With the quota systems in place in South Africa you often get white South African cricketers looking for a home elsewhere. I don’t think they all have Scottish grandparents but get in on residency. England also has a rich heritage of nicking South Africans. With the Dutch and South Africa there are probably more family ties. google.co.uk

I think he didn't count as an overseas player but couldn't get 'eaten' by the England team either?
