At tea, England’s manager, Flight Lt AJ Holmes, gave Edrich a glass of champagne. “I hear you train on the stuff,” Holmes said. Edrich polished off two glasses. “I was thoroughly fagged,” he explained, “and thought the champagne would get me going again.” Two balls later, he was caught at short leg for 219.

According to Stuart Broad, on pundit duty yesterday, he spent the morning at Trent Bridge doing stuff to launch a new kit. He didn't mention if it was Notts or to do with The Hundred? Assume it wasn't just a slightly different off white job for the real games?

There tend to be rules (as in this case) not to name things after living people - it avoids having the embarrassment of ending up with a Jimmy Saville Sports Centre if the beneficiary's reputation takes a dive
