It would save time if we just ended SL's innings now on the assurance that they would declare at 500? Assuming we comfortably fail to avoid the follow-on it could be all done and dusted by breakfast on Sunday.

But we need Bess and Leach to bowl pies for the whole match, so certain members of the media can clamour for Moeen to come back in and gift India 150 risk free runs in the first Test.

Cook talking about weighing trousers after bowling in SL. He hasn't factored in dehydration.

Bess and Leach can bowl pies for the next five years and we'll all still just bang on about what nice people they seem to be though.
Loved that 'Jack Leach is perfect son-in-law material' comment from someone on here (Wrig, possibly) a couple of days ago. Top work that Fetchie.

That was me, Greppers. They both are archetypal county spinners in many ways. I have watched Bess and Leach bowl at Somerset and the former is far inferior. In fact, he makes Gareth Batty look competent. Leach carries a threat when bowling in the groove.

I remain to be convinced by Leach. Bess is only picked because he can handle a bat.
I would be much happier finding an out and out wicket taking spinner, even if he was a rabbit and couldn't field. I understand that there are little or no opportunities for young spinners to learn their craft in the county game, but we should be identifying talent and giving it a chance. Failing that, I agree with Bumble, camp outside Rashid's house until he changes his mind.

Isn't the fella from Surrey(?), supposed to be the coming thing... he is on the current tour I think. Virdi is it? *Goes off to look it up*

My apologies to thread followers. I mentioned them by name. Virdi is obviously with the BHF.

Talking of BHF, I'd say Gareth Batty carries a threat. Not a wicket taking threat though.
