I'm optimistic of a draw for us too. Mercifully they only made 190-odd, I think - so the follow-on isn't a concern.

Malan may have been a decent signing.

Thompson might also be proving why the Yorkshire hierarchy let Bresnan depart too....

And they let Josh Shaw, Tim Bresnan, Alex Lees, Karl Carver, Matt Taylor and Bilal Anjam go (ok the latter two hadn't played many games)

Sussex seem to be wanting to get a result out of this. Certainly the draw is more use to us than it is them. An Essex win remains the least likely available outcome. If the weather there is the same as here (very dark, intermittent light showers) a draw is likely.
