In the land of #propercricket, the players wear whites, which are cream. The sweaters are long sleeved or sleeveless, but never short sleeved. They are always cable knit. Umpires dress like icecream sellers and carry no communication devices, just 6 pebbles and a penknife. Pitches are uncovered but it's not a problem because the sun always shines. Except when it rains, which it does all the time, which is why sawdust was invented. John Arlott and Richie Benaud share the microphone and the stewards on the gate have instructions to shoot Mark Nicholas on sight.
In this land, batsmen are batsmen. The only batters are in the kitchen, waiting to be turned into yorkshire puddings for lunch.

Presumably, there's no wide-brimmed sunhat either. Just one of those (apologies) baggy green equivalents. Even though they are what I grew up in, I actually can't remember the proper term other than 'cap'. Never wore anything other than a cap ever, but did concede to having a lighter weight one in later years, thankfully!

Except to bat... I did wear a helmet a few times for the quicks. Didn't like them much and went back to a cap.

Sunhats are allowed. Check out this classic image from the Bodyline tour. Looks like a sunhat at silly short mid wicket?

Wriggling Snake
He didn't need a helmet, the ball would have slowed down considerably after cracking the batsmans ribs, and consequently been a dolly.
I gave up on those BBC things, I saw the cover drive one, no Gower. Ridiculous.
Vincent Van Der Bijl, he was a 'unit' and a half. RoW.

Gower play in the 21st Century?
Headlines misleading? What's new?
Who know's why the chose this time period but the criticisms of inclusions should at least deal with the time period it's based on.

57.5 Degrees of Pain
Nicholls, I encountered Eddo Brandes at a test match in Bulawayo. You would not have been impuning his physique to his face. He looked like a Boer who wrestled livestock for fun down on the farm.
I can't believe the legendary Ehteshamuddin has not been cited for the RoW team. Plucked from obscurity for his 15 minutes of fame at Headingly 1982.
