Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I thought whether you liked him or not, everyone could unite in finding Agnew winding him up funny.

Without Boycs there wouldn't be a corridor of uncertainty. I quite like him, in a "better than Fred Trueman" way.

When Boycott was commentating he would often make a good or interesting point and then make it again, and again, and again, and again...

I liked the more technical analysis that he was able to give rather than the 'laddish' Swann/Tufnell. Swann/Tufnell are often good to listen to (although we don't hear quite so much of him now) place but I think the technical does too. Funnily enough, Vaughan ought to be able to provide this but he is just a waking soundbite for whatever the zeitgeist is. Lacks depth sadly. Hopefully Chef will bring something different...

Boycott did more to put the image of the grumpy Yorkshireman out there than, say, Fiery Fred. His comical presentation of 'that' pub games tv show plumbed unpredicted depths. Pilloried for indiscretions that many later cricketers trumped time and again, Boycs became a self crafted pastiche. Was it really Aggers winding Boycs up, or vice versa?

Was it really Aggers winding Boycs up, or vice versa? is a great point ;-) I think Boycott is more self aware than many people give him credit for and I agree to preferring his technical analysis to endless boys on tour stories
