I disagree. He can do the same job as Overton or Broad, but not better. He should be coming in now, fresh, with two wickets already down and bowling express pace. He is only up to 85-87 with his effort balls against Smith.
Broad on the other hand on fire with the new ball, making it sing

Bonners - Feels like overthinking it TBH. I'm pretty sure Australia would rather Overton had the new ball than Archer.
Archer got his wickets at Headingley with bowling at slower pace than some expected and I remember you commenting on his lack of pace.
If he's lacking pace due to tiredness it's a different matter.

Yup, and I still have a gut feeling he's using him wrong and trying to get him to do two different roles. That I think risks burn out. I just don't understand why you'd want him bowling at the same pace as the other bowlers in 8 to 9 over spells.

I won't disagree about him being bowled too much. Anderson coming back would have been great for reducing that.
I think Archer is deciding how to bowl though.

Another mistake, what message does this send to Overton putting Stokes on first? Overton is in as a bowler, let him bowl.

Got to bowl who he thinks is best to bowl and Stokes did a great job for him in the last test. Overton should get his chance to change the pecking order once Broad is done.

Have to disagree, I think it sends the same message as it did for Woakes, confidence shot and feel like you're under pressure every ball. He's now put the spinner on in front of him on the first morning of a test match? Poor captaincy.
